What to do with my 3700 photos.

Year 2010 is almost over.

I recently returned to San Jose, California from Barcelona and europe where I went to language school for 7 weeks and traveled for 1.5months. Now that I'm back to my normal routine, it feels as if I have been day dreaming for the last 3 months. I spent the last two days mindlessly looking at 3700 photos I had taken in Europe as if they don't even belong to me.

気がついたら今年ももう終わり。

つい最近バルセロナでの語学学校生活とヨーロッパでの旅を終えてカリフォルニアの実家に戻ってきた。あの3ヶ月は夢だったのかのなんて考えながら撮った3700枚の写真を人ごとのようにぼんやり眺めている。

Then, I decided to start a blog. After uploading my photos on picasa and facebook and replying to friends' comments they still did not feel like mine. I regret the fact that I did not take note of things while I was traveling, but at the same time I realized that I can trace my memories back through these photos.

そしてブログを始めようと思った。今までいくつもブログをやってきたけどいつもとは少し違う形で。最初のうちはつけていた日記も途中で途切れてしまい、毎日の出来事を書き留めておかなかったことを後悔。と同時にまだ夢心地の中にいる今なら色々思い出せる気がしたからこんな夜中にブログを開設してしまった。

I also decided to randomly pick out part of my trip and photos. Normally I like to do things in sequence. Neatly grouped and in order. That is how I have always been. But this time I decided to change things around.

いつもなら性格上、全てを順序通りに、きちんと街別に分けて書くところだが、それじゃあ肝心な物を見落とす気がして今回は色々やりかたを変えてみようと思う。

Grouping things and distinguishing one another blind folds me from taking note of important things like interconnectivity and how related everything in this world is. After all this is what I have been studying all through university. Cities, architectures, and peoples they interrelate, interconnect, and create history.

物事をグループに別けるとつい、物事の関連性を見失ってしまう。大学でずっと勉強してきたことがこんなにも現実的に感じられる日がくるとは思っても見なかった。街も建物も皆なにかに関連して、繋がって歴史ができていく。人も個々の歴史はあるけど、周りにいる人との関係があるからもっとおもしろいアイデンティティが生まれるんやね。

Well, I think this is a start. There is no theme to this blog. It will not be only about the europe trip or about anything in particular. It will be about everything and whatever I feel like writing. Happy Holidays to you all and hope you enjoy this blog. Thank you for your patience.
